About Brampton

Brampton is one of the youngest and most diverse cities in Canada by demographics. Historically known as the "Flower City" for its 19th-century greenhouse industry, today it is a major distribution and logistics centre due to its location at the junction of Highways 410, 407, and 401, as well as proximity to Toronto Pearson Airport.

Geography & Major Routes

The Etobicoke Creek and Credit River watersheds run through the city. Highway 410 enters from the south, and Highway 407 ETR crosses at the southern boundary. GO Transit's Kitchener line links Brampton to downtown Toronto.

Brampton Districts & Communities

Downtown Brampton centres on Main Street and Queen Street and includes the Rose Theatre and Gage Park. Other notable areas include Bramalea (one of Canada's first planned communities), Heart Lake, Mount Pleasant, Springdale, Castlemore, and the historic village of Churchville.

Region

Brampton is part of Greater Toronto Area, with a population of approximately 650,000. For broader context, see the Southern Ontario regional map and the Ontario map with cities.
