Ontario is Canada's most populous province, and most of its people live in the south. The Greater Toronto Area and the Golden Horseshoe curving around the western end of Lake Ontario - Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls - hold roughly half the province's population. A second cluster runs west through Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, London and Windsor, while Ottawa anchors the east. Northern Ontario is far more sparsely settled, with regional hubs such as Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay and Timmins spread across a vast area.
