The compact city includes the Civic Centre area, the original townsite, the lakefront residential areas, and the surrounding forested district with cottages and small lakes.
Elliot Lake is part of Algoma District / Northern Ontario, with a population of approximately 11,000. For broader context, see the Northern Ontario regional map and the Ontario map with cities.
