About St. Catharines

St. Catharines is home to Brock University and the headquarters of the Niagara Region. The Welland Canal, which connects Lake Ontario to Lake Erie, runs through the eastern edge of the city. The Henley Regatta course on Martindale Pond hosts national rowing championships.

Geography & Major Routes

The Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) cuts through the city. Highway 406 connects south to Welland.

St. Catharines Districts & Communities

Downtown St. Catharines around St. Paul Street, Port Dalhousie on the lake (a former separate village), the Brock University area at the top of the escarpment, and the Merritton industrial heritage area along the canal define the city.
