About Windsor

Windsor is the international gateway between Ontario and the United States and a long-standing centre of automotive manufacturing. The city is connected to Detroit by the Ambassador Bridge, the Detroit–Windsor Tunnel, and the Gordie Howe International Bridge. The University of Windsor and St. Clair College are based here.

Geography & Major Routes

Windsor sits on flat, fertile land at the confluence of Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River, and Lake Erie. Highway 401 ends at Windsor and connects to the bridges and tunnel. Pelee Island and Point Pelee, Canada's southernmost mainland point, are nearby.

Notable areas include Walkerville, with its early-20th-century streetscapes; Sandwich Town, one of Ontario's oldest European settlements; Olde Walkerville and the riverfront; Riverside; South Windsor; and the area around the University and Wyandotte Street.
